the 21st Century Classrooms
![]()
The College of Education, as part of a technological university,
continues to demonstrate a genuine commitment to integrate technology
its many undergraduate and graduate programs. The College determined
that the best way to prepare students for such teaching excellence
was through a major computer lab and production facility, supported
by six twenty-first century classrooms spread throughout the College
of Education.
Through the great generosity of an education alumna, the College
is now preparing prospective teachers in the Horace M. Jeffers Twenty
First Century Production and Teaching Laboratories, a state-of-the-art
center for technology and media production.
The LRC provides wireless mobile
carts with iBooks for student use, as well as laser printing,
digital cameras, and other peripherals.
The commitment to an increasingly technologically integrated
environment for effective learning is evident in significant
course content and curricular revision. Faculty model the most
current applications of effective use of technology through
classroom demonstrations and course content that challenge and
guide students in gaining efficient skills in instructional
applications of technology. The unit's support for the Twenty-First
Century Classroom, Laboratory, and Production Facility approach
to teacher education and the changes made in technology requirements
for licensure programs at Tech are additional indications of
this commitment.
The College continues to be excited about the significant impact
the labs and 21st Century Classrooms have already had and will
continue to have on P-12 instruction throughout the state of
Tennessee, and especially on education in the Upper Cumberland
region served by Tennessee Tech. Students now graduate who are
thoroughly prepared to use all of the Twenty-First Century Classrooms
established in P-12 schools throughout the state. Graduates
can take a lead in these schools, insuring that students benefit
fully from available technology and are prepared for a technologically
changing job market. [Top] |
