Proposing New Activities
Anyone may propose an event. Please fill out
an event proposal form (PDF)
and mail it to:
Center Stage, General Education Events
Henderson Hall Room 204D
College of Arts and Sciences
To be included in the regular series, proposals must be received by November
15 of the year prior to the one in which the event is intended to take place. Some
late proposals can be accommodated by the small contingency fund maintained for
Center Stage. Final selection of proposals to be funded is made by a faculty/staff/student
committee.
Faculty and Staff
The General Education Fund, created by student fees, is used annually
to present two series of activities: a fine arts series and a series
featuring diverse cultural perspectives. Together, these events
are called the Center Stage series.
Responsibility for planning the series has been delegated to the
Chairs of a Fine Arts Committee and a World Cultures Committee: Professors
Arthur La Bar (Department of Music and Art) and Ada Haynes (Department
of Sociology and Political Science), respectively.
Proposals for activities to be sponsored by the General Education
Fund during academic year 2008-2009 are welcome from anyone in
the TTU community. The deadline for receipt of such
proposals is November 15, 2007.
Each proposal will then be sent to the appropriate committee for
consideration.
To be fully considered, a proposal should include the information
asked for on the official form; event name,
brief description of the event, justification for including it in the series,
name and contact numbers of the campus host,
proposed budget (honoraria, travel, publicity materials, postage, receptions,
other), age appropriateness, and an explanation of why this event cannot be
funded from other sources.
