A program to monitor idle terminals runs from 6:00 pm until 4:00
am each day. The program, known as WATCHDOG, detects and removes
inactive terminal sessions from this system. Usually inactive sessions
are the result of users not logging off when they are finished with the
system. These sessions continue to use system resources and present an
opportunity for security violations and abuse.
If an interactive process is idle for 15 minutes it will receive a
warning message: If the process remains inactive for another 5 minutes it will be logged
off after being sent a notification message:
MESSAGE FROM WATCH_DOG
18:20:05 DWM3387 on LTA5071 has been inactive for 15 min.
MESSAGE FROM WATCH_DOG

and is being Logged Off
