How do I find out when I am supposed to work?

Look at the schedule.  It is posted in four places: 1) outside the equipment room door,  2) across from the elevator on the main floor,  3) back stage, and  4) in the recording booth.  The schedule is also on the web at  www2.tntech.edu/bfa/schedule/schedule.asp.

What do I do if I am unable to work when I am scheduled?

Notify Lee ASAP.  Find a replacement worker.  Change your worker ID number to your substitute's number on the posted schedules.  Do this only if Lee knows of the changes.  Please write neatly and do not write on the schedules for any other reason.

What is acceptable to wear when working stage crew?

Look professional.  Stage crew requires you to walk out on stage in front of the audience and to interact personally with the performer back stage.  Dress nicely but be comfortable enough to move equipment.  Shirt and tie is required only for special events.  NO jeans, t-shirts, tennis shoes, hats.

How early before a concert begins do I need to arrive?

Generally 30 minutes before start of a recital- faculty recitals, student recitals.   Arrive 45 minutes early for larger set-ups, for major concerts (Symphony Band, Orchestra, Jazz Band, Choir, etc.), and for guest artist recitals.  (Note: The time listed on the schedule is the starting time of the event, not the time the worker is supposed to show up.)

What if I am not scheduled to work, but I find out no worker has shown up?

If you realize the scheduled worker has not shown up (stage or recording) and you are already planning on attending the event, please fill in or find another member of the crew and ask them to fill in.  Also, if you are recording and there is no stage worker, or vice versa, call the person who is supposed to be there and/or find another worker to fill in.  If you are filling in be sure to count the hours for YOU, not the person who was originally scheduled, and notify Lee that the person did not show up.
