Minority
Affairs Tutoring Program
Mission:
The
mission of the Minority Affairs Tutoring Program is to improve
the academic performance of the minority (African-American and
Hispanic) students at TTU.
Goals:
The
goals of the Minority Affairs Tutoring Program are to decrease
the number of students on academic warning, academic probation,
or academic suspension and to decrease the number of minority scholarship
recipients who are losing money each semester due to poor academic
performance.
Values:
- We value quality service for the tutees, meaning that if a student
needs help in a class, that we respond to that student's need by
providing a qualified, reliable tutor.
- We value a pleasant work experience for our tutors in the aspect
of having a safe work environment, access to technology, and motivated
students.
Tutoring
Services:
- We will have a list of existing labs and times of service available
for students.
- We will have a list of private tutors that can be contacted for
times outside of those that are provided in the BCC and other labs
(based on availability of funding and tutor).
- Private tutors will be available on a first-come, first-served
basis.
- Tutees can be tutored in up to two courses/subjects, up to three
hours per course, for a maximum of six hours per week.
