Familiar to many as the bowtie-wearing Asian art expert on “Antiques Roadshow” and the author of a guide to the arts of Asia, Mason started in the business as a student at Tennessee Tech, when he opened Arcade Antiques in downtown Cookeville. He is currently owner and founder of iGavel.com, an online auction business. He was with antiques giant Sotheby’s for 24 years and was director of online auctions for Sothebys.com before the start-up of iGavel.

Mason will speak to students and faculty on Nov. 8-9, as part of TTU's College of Business Distinguished Lecture Series Program.

On Friday, Nov. 10, he'll be on hand to appraise items from the general public at TTU's antiques appraisal fair. Bring those items you think might be special, and Mason will give historical information as well as his appraisal value.

A small number of appraisal openings remain. Call Alumni Relations at (931) 372-3205 or (800) 889-8730 to schedule an appointment. The cost is $20 for one item and $50 for three items (three item limit per person). Proceeds from the appraisal fair will benefit TTU's Appalachian Center for Craft.
