Agricultural Education (AGED)
(Leading to the Bachelor of
Science in Agriculture Degree)
Agricultural Education prepares
students for careers as high school agricultural education
teachers, agricultural extension agents, and other related
fields. The agricultural industry needs capable professionals.
Agriculture teachers and extension agents help students learn,
grow and develop, preparing them to enter the agricultural
industry and become productive members of society. Graduates
in agricultural education can become certified teachers. High
school agriculture teachers are in great demand throughout
the state and nation. Each year the demand exceeds the supply
of graduates who become certified to teach high school agriculture.
The agricultural industry has evolved from a production-centered
industry into a competitive field that requires high school
agricultural education teachers to teach a blend of scientific,
technological and business skills. The agricultural education
teacher serves as the advisor of the local FFA chapter which
provides numerous opportunities for student leadership development,
personal growth and career success. For more information,
