This policy applies to all non-faculty personnel of the University.
12.2 Definition
A transfer occurs when a clerical and supporting or administrative employee moves from his/her present position to another position within the University. In the Clerical and Support Classification Compensation Plan, transfers occur between positions that are in the same "skill level". A change from a lower to a higher "skill level" position is a promotion and shall be made only in accordance with the promotion policy. (See Human Resource Services Policies and Procedures, Section 13) A change from a higher to a lower "skill level" position is a demotion and shall be made only in accordance with the demotion policy. (See Human Resource Services Policies and Procedures, Section 14)
12.3 Eligibility
An individual is eligible for an employee-initiated transfer after he/she has successfully completed the six-month probationary period for the position currently occupied. Transfers initiated by the University may occur at any time.
12.4 Probationary Period
Upon acceptance of a transfer, an employee will begin a new six- month probationary period at the end of which his/her job performance will be evaluated. (See Human Resource Services Policies and Procedures, Sections 10.1.1 and 10.1.3)
12.5 Salary, Accumulated Annual and Sick Leave
Individuals who transfer will carry their current rate of pay to the new position to the extent that funds are available. Accumulated annual leave (if applicable) and sick leave will not be affected by a transfer.
12.6 Completion of the Personnel Action Form
Items on the Personnel Action Form must be completed by the Chairperson, Director, Academic or Administrative Officer responsible for the new position per instructions accompanying the form.
