The University PC labs have been upgraded to the Windows XP operating system (except for the Foreign Languages Lab, SH202, and the Oracle lab, UC381 -- these will be upgraded at a later time after their specialized software has been qualified with Windows XP.)

While the logon is the same and the desktop similar, here are a couple helpful hints:

• The My Documents folder is the U: drive. If you wish to save something in your PC lab account, save it to My Documents.

In the pulldown menus, the U: (User) drive is also called the Disconnected Network Drive (U:). This is the same as My Documents.

• When using PaintShop Pro, if the program asks for a location before it will open, select the My Documents folder.

• If you are a faculty member who needs specialized software installed, please check that it is compatible with Windows XP and submit your request online.
