Dell Recall on Notebook AC Adaptors

Dell is recalling approximately one million laptop AC adapters.  "In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Dell is voluntarily recalling and offering free replacements for certain AC adapters that were sold for use with some models of Dell Latitude, Dell Precision and Dell Inspiron notebook computers.  It is possible for the adapters to overheat, which could pose a risk of fire or electrical shock."

Information Technology Services is asking all faculty and staff with laptops to check any Dell laptop or notebook AC adaptor for part numbers 9364U, 7832D, or 4983D.  Students should check their personal machines.

  1. Check whether your adapter needs to be replaced at:  http://www.delladapterprogram.com/multiorder.aspx

  2. Faculty and staff who have one of the adaptors being recalled should email MicroSupport with the full adaptor serial number, your name, department, and campus phone number.

  3. You will be notified by MicroSupport when a new adaptor is available for your machine.
