Dell laptop battery recall Faculty, staff, and students who have purchased a Dell notebook computer between April 1, 2004 and July 18, 2006 should check the Dell web site to determine if their battery is included in this recall and, if so, to request a replacement battery. The affected batteries could overheat and start a fire. Dell states that: "Batteries subject to recall should not be used while awaiting a replacement battery pack from Dell. You may continue to use your notebook computer using the AC adapter power cord originally provided with your notebook. "
Apple laptop battery recall Apple has determined that certain lithium-ion batteries containing cells manufactured by Sony Corporation of Japan pose a safety risk that may result in overheating under rare circumstances. The affected batteries were sold worldwide from October 2003 through August 2006 for use with the following notebook computers: 12-inch iBook G4, 12-inch PowerBook G4 and 15-inch PowerBook G4. For university owned machines Information Technology Services will be working directly with Apple to exchange batteries on the affected machines. Please contact clong@tntech.edu if you think you may have an affected model. All other should go to the Apple web site to determine if they have a battery under recall and if so, request a replacement. Please contact MicroSupport@tntech.edu if you have questions about this process. |
